A Very Madcon Winter - 2007
Oil on Canvas - 4 foot x 5 foot

“A Very Madcon Winter” painting represents my chaotic winter break during my senior year of college.

The top left corner represents my family and our Christmas. The green figure is a self-portrait of myself digging my cell phone out a 4-foot tall stuffed Clifford the Big Red Dog.

Cliffords rear end is represented as a pig because of the Pigs we were raising at the time. The Walnut which is flying at the pigs leg is a reminder to my friends not to threw objects at Pigs legs which is why the pigs leg had a target on it. My Brother is holding the Clifford doll because he is the one who hid the Cell Phone. Above Clifford there is a zoom in view of my arm reaching the cell phone after going through Cliffords belly. Surrounding the cell phone are cats since my sister always jokes that there are cats up various peoples butts.

My mom is pictured behind the large picture of my brother holding a staff which reads the "Lord of Gourd," because of her love Gourds.

Directly below my brother is pictured playing video games with Lamerous, the Bobcat who had been stealing out chickens and it was a family joke to say that he actually came around our ranch not to steal chickens but to actually challenge my brother to video games.

The Top Right Side represents my brother returning to California State Chico after Winter Vacation. He is pictures walking next to his now faithful friend, Lamerous the bobcat. Mitchell, my brother, is dreaming of me as a lizard hoarding trail mix and his girlfriend, Wren on the pin up "Bird of the Month" Calendar.

The Eye above him represents him not looking forward to going back to Chico since he had been depressed and missed his family during his first semester. I find this part of the painting very significant because upon his return for his second semester he actually made more friends and had a much better semester.

Mitch is pictured wearing a Chico Jersey because at the time he was trying out for the Chico Track Team. Mitch is pictured holding his golden key to get back into Chico because of his 4.0 gpa during his first semester. The key he is holding is unlocking his way into Chico State. Beyond the gate are various dark signs that were inspired by the right panel of Hiernymous Bosch's Triptych, the Garden of Earthly Delights. The Monkey holding the briefcase once again follows the same theme, holding a briefcase reading "Monkey Business."

The Lower half of the painting represents my job during the summer of working at my fathers business, Madcon. Madcon, which is Short for Madron Ridge Construction, is heating company that specialized in radiant heating. Radiant Heating, or hydronic heating is when plastic, or polyurethane tubes are installed under the floor of a house and hot water flows through them heating the house. The Heated tubes are pictures as the red lines which connect the various aspects of the corner representing how my family is linked to Madcon.

On the Left side of the lower corner is the cemetery, which my dads business is located in, hence, Madcon Internation Cemetary. Each of the Gravestones is the name of a past employee and two of the most prominent past employees are pictured directly above this sign. And on top of the sign one of my sisters chickens who was killed by the bobcat is sitting.

To the right of these gravestones is one a Madcon and friend of the Family Chris. Chris is very mischievous and is pictured wearing the attire of a character from a Pieter Breguel the Elder painting and is stabbing one of his coworkers in the back.

Above Chris is one of Bosch Characters, the devil's messenger, delivering a mission to Chris straight from the king of Hades. Could his plot be to foil his coworkers radiant heating installation that day, most likely since that was one of Chris' strengths.

Above Chris and to the right of the Devil's Messenger are the heads of two of my close friends who are accountants representing the overseeing of the radiant project as Habaneras because of their love for spicy objects.

To the direct right of Chris are two other Madcon Employees, Skee-Lo and Harrison, hard at work. Inside of Skee-Lo's pocket is one of his favorite morning snacks, a Homerun Pie which he love consuming and because of this his sweatshirt reads, "Kinda a fatty!"

Harrison's T-shirt pictures one of my dads, Vic Bacci's, dreams for his company T-Shirt which is based upon the hot rod drawings of the 60's by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. While everyone else is having a grand time which their foolish, playful, and in Chris' case mischievous actions, Skee-Lo and Harrison are hard at work connecting two pieces of the plastic radiant tubing (pex tube).

Behind Skee-Lo and Harrison is Vic Bacci, pictured on the belly of his favorite animal, the Cheshire Cat from Alice and Wonderland, watching over his employees and correcting all of our mistakes.
